The Alpine Series has been designed to work in harmony with Swift springs, but we do offer to order them with regular SCALE springs to work with different budgets.

Version *

TThis version is designed to keep a really close to factory comfort level while still improving handling performance over stock. This version is not designed to go more than approximately -0.5 to -1 inch from stock at minimum ride height setting. The OE replacement version is more used by people looking to replace a defect factory suspension, keep the stock look or slightly lowered and OE comfort level.
The regular version is the mostly used configuration. It is designed to gives approximately 3 inch of adjustment range from stock ride height on most application. In default configuration, the spring rate used is the best to keep a close to OEM comfort level while improving handling performance and reducing suspension travel. It can also be customized with different spring rate for spirited driving or occasional track use. Regular version is normally designed to reach up to a tire to fender fitment at the lowest ride height setting.
Our low version is ideal for more tight fitment and larger wheels. The 15-20% stiffer spring rate used significantly reduce the suspension travel to prevent rubbing issues when you plan to ride pretty low, tuck the tires or use aggressive offset where the wheel poke out of the fender. It’s still comfortable for street use but certainly feels a bit sportier. The low version use components to give 1 to 1.5 extra inch of drop compared to the regular version of the same application. This means the tire can be partially hidden into the fender at lowest setting but will stay 1-1.5 inch lower than factory ride height when adjusted at highest setting.

About this coilover

The 2015+ Audi R8 Alpine series is the adjustable suspension system you need to consider if you want to replace your defective magnetic suspension, improve handling performance or simply get an aggressive look by lowering the car to reach the fitment and ride height you were always looking for.

The monotube design configuration, added to the completely threaded body result in a fully adjustable long lasting suspension. As the ride height is set by the overall shock length, the spring preload, comfort level and suspension travel remains the same at any ride height setting compared to other suspension where the ride height is set by the spring seat, resulting in reducing the allowed travel as you lower the ride height.

The AU31-AS is offered in 3 different version depending the ride height range, comfort level and use each customer is looking for.

–       OE Replacement version: This version is designed to keep a really close to OEM comfort level while still improving handling performance over stock. This version is not designed to go more than -0.5 inch from stock at minimum ride height setting. The OE replacement version is more used by people looking to replace a defect magnetic suspension and keep the stock look and comfort level

–       Regular version: This version is the most used by customer looking to lower their R8. It allow a ride height adjustment from stock to approximately -2.5 inch. Comfort level is still really acceptable for daily use but certainly have to feel sportier to prevent any rubbing issue when lowered. The comfort feels pretty close to Sport Mode on the OE magnetic suspension. The stiffer spring rate and valving give significantly improved handling performance over stock.

–       Low Version: This Version is more a customized based on each customer needs. It is used for extreme fitment or track use and require to contact us by email to have our tech team helping you figure the needed spring rate, shock length and valving required to fit your exact needs. That is why we recommend to contact us before adding the low version to your cart.

This application use a double wishbone suspension configuration for both front and rear. This means that the shock have no direct impact on the wheel alignment. Every cars alignment is affected the more you lower it and depending on the suspension geometry. The R8 factory control arm don’t have any camber adjustment so if you plan to significanlty lower your car, your alignment specialist may offer you to add camber shims to get perfect wheel alignment to prevent excessive tire wear and optimal performance.
