How To Measure Ride Height

To measure ride height for car coilovers, you will need a measuring tape and a flat surface.

Steps to measure ride height

1. Find a flat surface

Park your car on a flat and level surface. This will ensure accurate measurements.

Measure the distance between the ground and the fender: Using the measuring tape, measure the distance between the ground and the fender at each corner of the car. Be sure to measure from the center of the wheel hub to the fender lip to ensure consistency.

2. Record the measurements

Write down the measurements for each corner of the car. This will give you an idea of how much your car needs to be lowered or raised to achieve your desired ride height.

3. Set the ride height

Adjust the coilovers to achieve the desired ride height. Some coilovers have adjustable collars that allow you to adjust the ride height without removing the coilovers from the car. Consult your coilover manufacturer’s instructions for proper adjustment procedures.

4. Re-measure the ride height

After adjusting the coilovers, measure the distance between the ground and the fender again to ensure that the ride height is at the desired level. Make sure that the ride height is consistent on all corners of the car.

5. Test drive

Take your car for a test drive to ensure that the ride height feels comfortable and safe. If necessary, make further adjustments until you achieve the desired handling and performance.

It’s important to note that ride height is not the only factor that affects a car’s handling and performance.
